“Caedo” Premiere

December 10, 2010 at 1:23 PM

So it’s been far too long since I’ve updated the few people that actually read this on the status of the film, but blame that mostly on the hours upon hours Alex Clarey and I have spent editing this work of art.

Okay, work of art might be a bit strong, but the film is, in my opinion, pretty fucking cool. With that said, we’re still low on funds on our Kickstarter.com account and we’d love any more support you or your friends could give!

For those of you in the Boston area, I strongly encourage you to get out to the Paramount Center on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing to see the premiere of “Caedo” as well as 20-or-so other Emerson College Film II productions. Some will be great, some will be terrible, but all show the hard work and dedication of Emerson film students. SO COME! 1pm TOMORROW!

Otherwise, the film will be available for online viewing/digital download/DVD/Blu-Ray over Winter Intercession-2011.

Thanks to all those that have supported and are planning on coming tomorrow! Can’t wait to watch “Caedo” with all of you!

Wrapping and Life After Set

November 9, 2010 at 1:43 PM

Hey.

So we wrapped the two-day shooting of “Caedo” on Sunday but I just didn’t have the energy to write anything about it due to being awake for 40/48hrs this weekend.

Special thanks to Alex Clarey, Brooke Rupe, Nicole Abascal-who are the rest of the group and core crew; Liz Shea, Ali Woodward, Chelsea Tice, Dan Vignal, Greg Lewis, Jonathan Tee, Anthony Chanza-the rest of our crew; my brother Pierce Lydon and Jaime Spataro for providing some on-set entertainment and some much needed massages to our cast.

Again, fantastic work by my cast: Norma Zea Kuhling who swears she’s shy in front of a camera but is clearly one of the best actresses at Emerson; Nathan Johnson for which “Caedo” was his film debut and I must say has a definite future in the medium; Jordan Frechtman whom I made smoke his first cigarette and “kill” two women but came out of it with his soul intact; Erin Maloney for making a not-sexy-nurse-outfit into a super-sexy nurse outfit (really, there was nothing anyone could do about it); Katie Speed (and her mom) for bringing us amazing brownies and distracting us with a few Disney showtunes; and last but certainly not least, Garrett Richardson for being the funniest person I know and adding his personal touch to this film.

I honestly loved working with each and every one of you. Somehow, we avoided major disasters, all got along, and ended the shoot with no hairs pulled out of our head and our minds not in shambles, and it was all thanks to the humor of our cast and the diligence of our crew. As far as the cast goes, you guys made shooting a breeze with your spot on, perfect delivery of each and every line. To my crew, thank you for keeping me and everyone else in check and on time.

If you haven’t already, check out the photos taken by Greg Lewis, Dan Vignal, Anthony Chanza and myself that are posted on facebook. We also have a facebook group now, so I’ll keep you posted with stuff there too. Again, everyone please check out the kickstarter account and tell people about it, anyone. The videos that Jonathan Tee shot will be edited by Alex within a few days. He told me they looked like the behind the scenes of a Coen Bros. movie and they actually do. Keep checking out the tumblr for updates on post-production and don’t forget to come to the screening December 11th at the Bill Bordy Theater!

Best to everyone,

Hunter

8am. Dunkin Donuts. Watching Brooke load some film. Listening to beats.

This is gonna be a long first day.

Hell Week

October 31, 2010 at 4:09 PM

This is it.

Brushing away the morning breath of too much candy and cheap beer, I look up and see the final stretch. Of pre-production. There are many more laps to be run in fact…

Time to get insurance in order, a crew list finally set in place and some last-minute meetings with each of my actors to ensure God-like performances from each of them.  I must say that I thought this week would never come, and that this shoot was long ways off and it’d be left to an older, wiser group of film kids to take care of.

A few gray hairs later and I feel we are that older wiser group. Good job team.

Cast

Another way-too-nice-for-October day in Boston. Last night my crew and cast finally met and it was glorious.

I was nervous the whole day that it might just be a little boring, people might be just a little shy, and that we’d beat the script to death but in fact it was the most fun I’ve had all week. We had a few laughs, I made fun of my own writing, and we workshopped “Caedo” just enough to fine tune before our shoot next week. A special thanks to Norma, Erin, Katie, Jordan, Nathan, Garrett, Brooke, and Alex who all showed up for this most momentous occasion.

Next stop, principal photography!

Human Kindness

Our backers at kickstarter.com are amazing. The site has only been up for about 4 days and we’re already at a quarter of our goal. I just hope that the actual filming runs this smoothly. ;)

On a production note, the storyboards and shot lists will be completed tonight after a long awaited final meeting with my DP, Brooke. After that, we’ll have our first cast meeting/runthrough/character work on Wednesday. I’m pumped to finally have everyone meet and see the story actually come alive within all of my wonderful actors.

“Caedo” is quickly reaching her toddler stages, and I must say she’s looking good.
